Tortoise's "Master" podcast continues its vital but frustrating Neil Gaiman investigation
Nearly a month after the last instalment of Master: the allegations against Neil Gaiman aired, episode six dropped this week. Called The Pattern, it revolves around a woman using the pseudonym Claire. It details her relationship with Gaiman in 2012 and Gaiman’s subsequent offer to pay her $60,000 to cover the cost of therapy needed as a result of his grooming and sexual violation.
We’ve heard this story before — parts of it, anyway. Last month, Claire was interviewed on a podcast called Am I Broken. Hosted by counsellor Papillon DeBoer, the podcast provides space for sexual assault survivors to share their stories. But what Claire told DeBoer about her experience with Gaiman wasn’t quite the whole story, and the additional details revealed on the Tortoise podcast proved very interesting indeed.
